Paper Mache in Process

2026-06-25

Wow. I haven’t done paper mache in decades. It really is rewarding to put goopy pieces of torn paper onto a balloon and then have it harden and dry to make a form. These are going to be masks of some kind. It’s a group project, so it’s being done in sessions. We already gave them a coat of white paint/gesso, and I’m excited to see where they go next. I definitely am expecting to do this again.

Colorful Dots

These were some objects on the table in front of me and I sketched them with a pen. The next day I added some color and later decided to add some more rainbow dot action. Then the linework was lost so I went over it with a felt pen. It’s weird, it doesn’t make sense, but it was enjoyable to do, as most art experiments are.

Impressions

A coffee stain that reminded me, like a cloud sometimes does, of an imaginary animal. A magical moose or yak, or perhaps a strange camel with horns.
